The Retina Labs RD Inc is a service developed to facilitate and promote the screening of diabetic retinopathy.
More than 50% of diabetic people do not have their eyes checked regularly. Yet all health organizations linked to diabetes recommend an annual eye exam.
The disease does not give any symptom until it reaches an advanced stage and the access to health services is difficult.
The main challenge to overcome blindness caused by diabetes is to provide access to the largest possible number of people with diabetes to a regular eye exam; however, this is in a health system where the material and human resources are already inadequate.
Telemedecine offers a tool that allows screening of medical quality for diabetic retinopathy. The Retina Labs RD inc have developed a screening service for diabetic retinopathy based on telemedecine technology. It aims to provide better access to easy, fast and quality medical screening for diabetic retinopathy. The Retina Labs RD inc. are under the direction of Dr. Marie Carole Boucher, Ophtalmologist, specialist in diseases of the retina and vitreous. The Retina Labs RD inc. are partners with Biron Laboratories.
