OCT examination (or optic coherence tomography) is a high, ultraspecialised technology which permits a high precision imaging of the internal structure of the retina. This very precise examination is similar to a regular photograph without any contact with the eye and helps visualise details as small as 5 microns . As a size indication, the head of a pin measures 2000 microns.
